I remember when I was just starting out as part of the CMI collection team (there were just two of us) and my portfolio of accounts contained mostly small balances. Fortunately, by nature of being small, they were relatively easy to collect. That not only gave me a feeling of personal accomplishment, but also gave me a sense of pride knowing we were able to support our client’s cash flow needs.
As the years went on and my collection experience deepened, I tackled the claims that had much larger balances and often an unusually complicated situation. Sometimes I would spend a tremendous amount of time and effort trying to collect the claim, but the in the end, for various reasons, the collection possibility went completely bust. When this happened, naturally I was frustrated, but moreover, I felt I had not fulfilled the client’s needs and expectations.
Forging on with perseverance and tenacity, our client base greatly expanded, the variety of commercial claims substantially increased, and our staff grew to meet the ongoing demand for claims to be handled as a third-party collection provider. Working with a unique and talented group of people who are dedicated and enthusiastic has proven to me to be one of the most satisfying aspects of my position.
In looking at the options, I would say that if all four are taken together, they would not only yield a very satisfying job situation, but also contribute to the long-term goal of always trying to provide “Total Client Satisfaction.”
